How long will it take to receive my order?

Production times vary depending on the type of item you order.

Each item will have its production time stated on the product listing.

If you order more than one item, your order will be held until all items are finished.

We do offer rush service for those of you who need their orders sooner.  CLICK HERE for details.

Do you offer a warranty?

All products made by California Collar Co. are backed by a lifetime warranty.  This includes all leather goods and all of the items in our Mudpuppy collection.  This warranty does not cover blankets, bedding, hiking bells or leathercare products.

HARDWARE
Should any buckles, rivets or d-rings fail, we’ll repair them at no charge.  If any spots, studs, crystals, gemstones, ornaments or nameplates break, come loose or fall off, we’ll fix those too!

LEATHER
Should the leather split or break from material defect, we will repair or replace your collar at no charge.

LININGS
The construction of our collars and harnesses makes it impossible to replace worn out linings.  Because of this, there is no warranty available on that portion of our products.

LIMITATIONS
This warranty covers defects in materials and craftsmanship only and does not cover normal wear and tear, damage caused by your dog or any other event beyond our control.  Examples of normal wear and tear would be scratches or dings on crystals, ornaments or nameplates and/or the natural aging of leather, including stretching, scuffing or any color changes.

Examples of damage caused by your dog would be d-rings that have broken or leather that has ripped due to undue stress such as a collar/leash/harness used to tether a dog, items that have been chewed by your dog or items that are ill suited to a particular size/breed of dog.

Remember that no one knows your dog better than you do.  It is up to you to determine which products will be best suited for your individual situation.

TETHERING DOGS
Our collars, leashes and harnesses are not designed to be used as ‘tie out’ gear.  You’d be surprised how much force a dog can hit the end of a line with, especially if he sees a squirrel.  Damage caused by using any of our products to tether a dog will not be covered under warranty.

We don’t recommend tethering a dog due to excessive risk of loss, damage and injury.  But if you are planning on tying your dog to an outdoor line, please be sure to purchase items from a manufacturer that designs products specifically for that purpose.

SHIPPING COSTS
We do not cover shipping costs for items returned to us for repair.

What is your return/exchange policy?

All return/exchange requests must be made within 14 days of delivery.  Please email us at aftercare@californiacollarco.com to make a request.  Our aftercare department will contact you within 24 hours of receipt of your request.

CONDITION OF GOODS
Any items returned to us must be in brand new condition.  Any items that have been broken in, are creased, wrinkled, dirty or damaged will be returned to you and no refund or exchange shall be given.  There are absolutely no exceptions to this policy.

READY-TO-WEAR ITEMS
– these items can be returned for a full refund of purchase price, less shipping fees
– if you’d like to exchange an item, the cost of the exchanged item will be applied toward the cost of the new item
– any items that have been worn or broken in are not eligible for refund or exchange

CUSTOM ITEMS
– due to their personalized nature, we can’t issue full refunds on any of our custom items
– a 20% restocking fee will apply to all exchanges
– a 40% restocking fee will apply to all returns

SHIPPING CHARGES
We do not cover shipping charges on returns or exchanges for any reason.

What's the difference between ready-to-wear and custom items?

Both our ready-to-wear and custom items are made the same way, by hand at our workshop in Los Angeles.  The main differences are color schemes, delivery times and return/exchange policies.

READY-TO-WEAR
– color schemes are chosen by our artisans
– these items usually ship within 3 – 4 business days
– easy returns and exchanges

CUSTOM ITEMS
– choose your own custom color scheme
– these items ship 3 – 4 weeks from purchase
– there is a more stringent return/exchange policy on these items

Are your leather goods waterproof?

The leather we use for our products is the same leather that is used in high end equestrian gear so it’s meant to take a beating.  However, leather is a natural material and it does have its limitations.

OCEAN & POOL WATER
The brine in saltwater and the chlorine in pool water can leach oils from leather.  Regular conditioning will restore lost oils and help protect leather from drying out.

LAKE & POND WATER
We don’t ever recommend exposing leather goods to freshwater sources like lakes and ponds due to high bacteria content.  Leather is a porous material and exposure to this type of water can lead to bacteria and odor buildup deep within the fibers.  In order to avoid stinky collar syndrome, we recommend using a collar made of waterproof material for this application.

RAIN & SNOW
No worries here!  Our leather goods can withstand this type of exposure with ease.  Although not entirely necessary, we do recommend regular cleaning and light conditioning of leather goods that regularly see this type of water exposure.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
As a general rule, you should treat your dog’s gear the same way you’d treat a good pair of work boots.  Cleaning leather exposed to harsh conditions and treating it with a waterproofer will help keep your leather looking its best for years to come.
